I am a SAHW to a high earning spouse. No desire to work although my degree is in the arts so I could perhaps one day (art gallery etc.) He prefers me to not work and to help attend his work functions/plan vacations/go to pilates.

My husband makes 750K/yr approx and I'm around 400K, my job is entirely from home and I have been doing it so long it is not very hard at this point. I only have 2 kids so it is not very hard to juggle family and work life. I have had no break in work since my kids were born except maternity leave. I have zero desire to not be working Both DH and i work in the same industry and our work venn diagrams do converge and we and do really enjoy gossiping

We are about the same, except that hubby is not stressed and is not a lawyer, I work part-time (@ about 175k), and our kids are in private.

How did you find this? We’re in a very similar situation and I’ve been looking for a PT gig and haven’t had any luck finding roles that aren’t FT.


New poster, not the pp, with similar situation. DH is making 7 figures and works a lot and we have three kids. I’ve done a couple of different part time jobs related to my graduate degree because I’m happier working some but have needed a lot of time and flexibility as the only available parent of three. In my current and favorite role I teach a few mornings a week. I’ve tried both full time and staying at home and neither were the sweet spot for our family balance.

Our family was in the same situation a couple of years ago. The option most families take is to hire more help and outsource any chores or household activities. We had babysitters, gardeners, cleaners, chef, etc. This allowed more time to relax on weekends without bickering over chores.

I’m in the same boat and I want a more challenging job. Yes it is great for my family but I miss working at a faster pace. I’m really struggling with the “mommy track”.
