Yard waste? No

WRONG! Unless it's your own trash can or the one designated for public use, do NOT put your dog shit in people's private trash cans!!!

My trash can says “property of Fairfax County.”

If you live on a corner, it's 10x. The worst was when someone put dog poop in our can and a raccoon got in and smeared it all over, so had to clean it out with brush and soap.

Then when our elementary boys ran through the grass then got in the car, smearing yard poop all over the back seat. It was so disgusting that I had to get everyone out of the car and it cost me $300 to detail. I was so angry I was about to put a huge sign on our yard calling out our @sshole neighbors.

OMFG DO NOT PUT YOUR DOG POOP BAGS IN SOMEONES TRASH WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!

It will not get thrown out with the trash. It will stick to the can. I am a dog owner but people like you give us a bad name.

You put your dog poop bags in your own trash or a public can, which has a liner.

Calm down. Nobody is talking about throwing poop that is not contained in a bag anywhere. How the hell would you get it into the can? Do you think people are picking it up with their bare hands and flinging it?

If our can is on the curb and hasn't been picked up yet, I really don't care if you throw your poop bag, candy wrapper, whatever into it. Why on earth would I?

Because at least in our neighborhood, the garbage men don't dump the cans - they reach in and grab the large garbage bags and toss them into the truck. When that happens, the poop bag falls to the bottom. Best case scenario, I have to get it out of there myself. Worst case, I don't see it, or it breaks, and I have poop smeared all over the inside of the can.

So true. This is my experience as well.

Yeah, that happened to us all the time as well. I finally put some stickers on the cans which somewhat deters people. I also confronted one of our neighbors that was doing it and he said there were public no trash cans to/from his walk, which is not at all true.

And even if it were true, so what? How hard is it to tie up a poop bag, carry it home, and deposit it in your own trash can?

I have asked myself this so many times but a crazy number of people who willingly adopted dogs seem to think this is just an impossible task. My favorite is the people who don't want to carry the poop around so they just set the little bad on the ground under a tree or something to get "later." Sometimes they get it later, sometimes they don't. Either way these little bags of $hit just lie around on the ground. It's revolting.

People are the worst.
