Give it a rest. I’m a WSHS parent who spent the last two years of her life advocating on this and I didn’t even know what BMP was until this came up at one of the last boundary meetings but Ricardy shut it down. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the Lewis parents who keep trying to force kids into their school.
Maybe ask why the school board refuses to give up on IB there. It’s because tons of Lewis parents use it as a way to get escape that school. The SB doesn’t want to hear complaints from them if they close that IB loophole.
You really are going to claim that WS parents haven't been saying that potential Edison overcrowding ought to get more attention from the School Board than the current overcrowding at West Springfield?
Sorry, but even when you didn't mention Bren Mar Park by name, you were suggesting Lewis should pick up kids from Edison rather than West Springfield.

Well to me yes that makes more sense. Edison has a lot of growth planned and wshs numbers are stable and will probably decline in a couple of years. If they establish residency at the high school level. That will take some more kids away. I am tired of everything being reactive and playing with our kids lives rather than actually planning for what is ahead.
If you want to take that approach, shift gears, and be more proactive, the latest FCPS projections have West Springfield at 116% capacity in 2030-31 and Edison at 109% capacity.
There's simply no reason for picking on Bren Mar Park other than the fact that, as one poster (likely from WSHS) states, it is perceived as "lower-hanging fruit," meaning an easier target.
Oh, I thought FCPS numbers didn’t take developments into account when planning, so is the 109 with or without all the new developments (or just a few of them that already have ground broken)?
Either way, you are getting the PTA to organize and name planning areas from WSHS that should be moved. It is kind of evil because you clearly are going after specific groups. Meanwhile, in WSHS we are consistently saying those numbers don’t take into account the numbers of out of area children and that we need residency checks to establish the real number of kids that should be attending WSHS. There is a big difference between the two.

Why don’t we end IB at Lewis, get the kids who are pupil placing out returned to the student body and see where we are? Oh right, current residents who use IB to leave Lewis would revolt.

They need to remove IB from Lewis, make it all AP, and then redistrict. Then the kids that are pupil placing out need to stay and more kids move in. There will be a school within a school but a larger cohort of AP students that will make Lewis more attractive. But FCPS really seems stuck on IB, I can't figure out why. It isn't working at pretty much any HS in the County.
If people want to move to private they can move to private. I think it will be a smaller number then folks here think it will be.
Edison is adding a lot of housing to its district. WSHS has zero growth. If you think long term it makes more sense to pull from the Edison area. But we have already debated this a lot and the board just keeps leaving IB at Lewis.
Well, moving Bren Mar Park out of Edison also frees up space at Edison, which could really use the room for the extra housing that’s going to go in there. They’ve already broken ground on a large new neighborhood of larger townhomes (the kind that will attract families, not 1-2 bedroom rental apartments) right down Van Dorn from Edison.
Sounds like the Bren Mar Park parents are starting to worry about the current overcrowding at West Springfield almost as much as the West Springfield parents are worried about the potential future overcrowding at Edison.
I doubt the Edison is rven on the radar of WSHS families
Total BS. West Springfield has been offering up BMP to Lewis for many months because they are so very concerned about Edison getting 2/3 as overcrowded some day as West Springfield has been for years.
Those weren't WSHS families. You can ask rhe school board.
Like you know, or like they’d respond, much less respond honestly.
Nope, y’all have been offering up BMP to Lewis for a long time as an alternative to making changes that would actually put WSHS at 105% or below.
