If you SCEA/REA to an HYP, you could still EA to Michigan and Georgia Tech since they are public, but not MIT, WashU, USC, and Case. If you ED to a t20, then you could EA to anything as long as it's not an SCEA/REA school.

Add USC, Case, and Michigan to the EA, assuming they could finish the essays.

I loved the campus and vibes so much. I think wash u is in a position to want to zero in on students who are best fit. They want kids who want to be there. I do think they need kids to actually visit, because if you visit you either get it or don’t.

Actually, Chicago essays only favor applicants who are able to hire outside consultants. Under resourced applicants can’t compete on essays with rich private school kids.

Washu is replacing essays with a video supplement, which honestly levels the playing field for all applicants. Definitely a good move.

My DD did everything you said except for the optional scholarship essay for creative writing majors. She also submitted an optional 90-second video which I think is still "requested" this coming year. Although DI allegedly wasn't tracked at the time, we went for a campus visit and she did BearChat with a current student over lunch. Love the campus and the vibes.

It isn’t good to be both test optional and have no supplements.

Washu does not require supplemental essay so I think EA makes more sense.

WashU has 3–4 supplemental essays. Why mislead others?

Removed this year

Please stop misleading. My child applied this year and had to write 3 supplementary essays, of which one was why us/why major, one was leadership, and one was for the Danforth scholarship.

It's interesting that some posters here (just one?) would go out of their way to spread blatantly wrong misinformation about WashU.

Why can't you google?

This is disappointing news. One of the things I can respect about other schools who pay a lot of attention to yield (UChicago for example) is that they definitely don’t make it easy to apply. 2 very long essays, 1 with a difficult prompt, and a video profile is not easy to do. WashU seems to just want to farm applications.

My bad. Seems like a ploy to increase applications (no supp) and increase yield rates (by tracking DI and adding EA).

Who knows? My kid applied EA to another school and got emails basically saying “switch to ED and you are in.” He didn’t. He got in anyway.
