She fought the. Arena and won. She pushed for the gerrymander response and won. How are these bad?
The arena would have been a source of revenue to include an entertainment district and sports gambling. Instead, we get just a casino proposed in Tysons. As for gerrymandering, the courts haven't decided yet. Too early to call that a win.
The arena location would have been a traffic and logistical disaster, no thanks! Glad to have leaders to think this through.
It was on metro and funding was allocated to improve the Potomac Yard stop. What's Alexandria currently doing with PY? Looking for some mixed-use housing developments and some more grocery stores?
It was not in the middle of the region and would have made game attendance for fans from Maryland on a weeknight virtually impossible.

You are a moron. Youngkin got played a fool by a brilliant businessman (Josh Harris) who never had any intention whatsoever to locate the Arena in Alexandria. It was all a ruse to force Bowser et al to give him what he wanted.
The ex mayor of Alexandria was, literally, humiliated by this and chose not to run again because he fell for it hook line and sinker. He basically stepped down in disgrace.
Anyone who's driven down US1 in even mild traffic knew it was a non starter. I honestly don't know how literally anyone fell for that nonsense.

"Likable"?? She is a completely obnoxious bully.

You were going to have airplane noise during concerts. No thanks. The whole thing was a fake ploy anyways to get DC to step up more in negotiations. I lived in DC and still didn't want it in VA due to traffic! And now I am in VA and very glad it did not go in due to traffic! What a horrible location.

The arena would have been an albatross and she was right to kill it.
Tell me again what is Alexandria's plan to pull themselves out a fiscal death spiral?
Both Alexandria and the state of VA were on the hook to subsidize the arena. It was a terrible financial deal for VA taxpayers.
