It was not in the middle of the region and would have made game attendance for fans from Maryland on a weeknight virtually impossible.
It's 10 extra minutes on Metro at most.

The ex mayor of Alexandria was, literally, humiliated by this and chose not to run again because he fell for it hook line and sinker. He basically stepped down in disgrace.
Anyone who's driven down US1 in even mild traffic knew it was a non starter. I honestly don't know how literally anyone fell for that nonsense.

You were going to have airplane noise during concerts. No thanks. The whole thing was a fake ploy anyways to get DC to step up more in negotiations. I lived in DC and still didn't want it in VA due to traffic! And now I am in VA and very glad it did not go in due to traffic! What a horrible location.
Yes, the location was absolutely awful, but anyone could see it wasn't a serious proposal. They literally didn't even consult WMATA before floating it. I honestly cannot believe anyone is still bringing this long dead nonsense up. It was never real.

Both Alexandria and the state of VA were on the hook to subsidize the arena. It was a terrible financial deal for VA taxpayers.
