Let them know. It's very rude and perhaps it was a teen who did it without thinking. I would do that before towing. I would ignore it if they were going through some major trauma like someone is dying is this vacation is to get their sanity back, but otherwise, they did something selfish and rude and need to know. I'd be polite, but direct. I would not get it towed unless they were routinely selfish and unaccountable, but I would not stew and say nothing either.

I would bet the car key is in the house. I worry when I travel that I might lose my key so I leave it at home.
