I'm not poor and have most of what I want, but if I'm thinking about it:
1. Flying business class on all trips and staying in 5 star hotels.
2. Total financial security for myself and my kids
3. A fully paid off home with a view of the sea, a pool and a garden (with means to pay for upkeep).

Sigh. I have a cleaning woman who comes every 2 weeks. My DH cooks. I use the self-driving feature in my Tesla. I do not have a housekeeping staff, but, I do have a landscaping guy.

Regular trips to the salon and spa
More experiences- International travel, trips to the theater, etc.
Real security - a job layoff right now would derail our hopes of eventually retiring.

Day to day, we’re fine- but it is okay and doesn’t make us shallow for wanting material luxuries or experiences or financial security/safety in an uncertain world. There is an emotional difference between choosing not to purchase something I can afford vs. wanting something I can’t afford.

I cannot speak to what it costs to sew clothing, but I can assure you that hand knitted sweaters are not less expensive than store-bought ones.

I want to be able to go on visit my parents more often. They are elderly and live in a European country.
