Boring white male, religious black Democrat

Both from the South, both are fairly moderate. Both could appeal to key Democratic constituents and Independents

I think a lot of people are going to have a strong desire for normalcy after 10+ years of political chaos. I have noticed that Beshear has been mostly been staying out of the way of national politics. (Unlike pritzker). This will probably be to his benefit when the time comes. People are going to want to shut the door on this era, and probably act like it never happened.

I disagree. I absolutely refuse to vote for someone who was silent.

Give me Chris Murphy, or AOC, or Melanie Stansbury, or John Ossoff.

There is zero chance I will support Kamala, who had brunch while the country was burning (and I was a huge supporter of hers).

Yeah, agreed. No one is voting for a return to quiet subservience. A great 2028 litmus test for candidates is going to be how they treated this period in time and how they speak now about prosecuting and arresting the people in this administration once back in power.

So, more drama?

This is what I meant, when I said that people want a candidate to bring back normalcy. I don’t mean establishment, I mean ending the dramatics and bringing back professionalism. I think people are over the antics.

I will do what I have to, but I think a lot of people don’t like Newsom. He is extremely wishy and kind of a slimeball.

That goes a long way

Newsom is the dream candidate for Republicans. Douchy man with a helmet of gel from California. Ex-wife is Kimberly Guilfoyle, the Fox "personality" who is also Don Trump Jr's ex. If that's your idea of a Hallmark family, maybe we've been looking at different Christmas Cards. Republicans are going to go to town on Newsom.

Absolutely not! Pritzker has a rich brother who pretends to be a woman, and he funds all things gender identity ideology.

The campaign ads write themselves.

This, Democratic establishment wants an Israel first candidate and he'll be the perfect fit.

Isn’t that the current beef with Trump, he’s Israel first? So we just make the same mistakes again and again and then act all shocked when things are looking too familiar.

Welcome to American politics. Where have you been all these years?

Beshear is option 2. A bit milquetoast, but acceptable to the giant waffling middle of America.

He’s rich, fat and very Jewish

And no, running on the “Illinois record” is problematic. It’s a horrifically managed state to boot

So you have a 1930s financier caricature coupled with running a state that is a terrible brand

Come on - listen to yourselves

I'm sorry. Why are gay and Jewish disqualifying? WTH is wrong with you?

You have to view candidates with a t chart.

Too many negatives and it’s untenable.

So you can be Jewish - but then have to be a chad and not “too Jewish” outwardly like Ossoff.

Pritzker is hella Jewish, billionaire, fat — this is a walking caricature of Jewish capital.

At a time when that is not a good brand.

Shapiro, Rahm, Pritzker - these guys are too Jewish

Bernie - he’s Jewish but in a funny Larry David way so it doesn’t affect him.

Ossoff - Jewish, but a chad and doesn’t stress his Jewishness like Shapiro and Rahm

In short, you can be Jewish but have to mitigate it

I prayed that I would live long enough to see a woman President Hillary Clinton was the most qualified person to ever run and she must to the least qualified moron to ever run. Kamala Harris also extremely qualified a d list to same moron in who was convicted of 34 felonies plus convicted of a sex crime.

No more women. America is misogynistic to its core.

And yet in the relationships forum, almost every poster said American men are superior to foreign men for relationships

+1 we had that "return to normalcy" in Biden and what was the point.
Part of that was Covid and trying to find normalcy again.

This sentiment is not shared by most of the voting population given the results of 2016 and 2024.

Clinton, Harris, and Whitmer are all weak candidates for various reasons. But not because they are women. They just didn't click. Meanwhile, a black man with the middle name Hussein was a very successful two term president. And would easily win today if he could run again. Americans are perfectly capable of voting for candidates that don't fit the white man box. But the candidates have to be good and have some charisma and generate excitement.

And we still are not seeing someone emerge. Newsom is a shapeshifter with a sleazy history and is way too obsessed with social media. I have met frogs with more charisma than Mark Kelly. Kamala Harris couldn't even make it to the Iowa caucus when she ran for president. Pritzker is an inherited billionaire and do we really another one? People's views on the billionaire class and Israel have changed 180 degrees over the past couple of years, both among liberals and conservatives. This is going to be a tough election cycle for Jews, including Shapiro. Buttigieg is just a leisurely fellow floating through life with his Harvard and McKinsey pedigree. Being gay doesn't even matter. Not a prime time man.

There's no candidate yet. And typical of Democrats, they seem to rely on Trump being unpopular. But that is exactly how someone like Tucker Carlson becomes president. Democrats already made that mistake and threw in the deeply unpopular, 82 year old Joe Biden, which is why have this mess. Democrats really need to focus on getting a compelling candidate, even if it's a green alien from Mars of indeterminate gender.
