If you change school, you will have to explain in the Common App additional information section why school change was made in Junior year to give admission officers context why the change was made.

According to Naviance, Harvard and MIT are the only schools where the GPA of the average admit is above 4.6.
A 4.6 GPA is extremely difficult.
If your GPA is above 4.6 and your SAT is 1570 or higher, you've got pretty close to a 25% chance at Harvard from TJ.

Almost everybody from TJ gets into VT.

Naviance cannot tell you this. You have no idea if it was ecs, essays, hooks, etc. plus naviance in fcps is an average of more than one year’s worth of info.

I was responding to the ridiculous notion that these schools are unrealistic unless you have a 4.6 GPA. 4.6 is the average GPA of accepted students. About half of the accepted students have lower GPAs. Sure it's rare but it's not crazy rare. Did you think I was saying that all you needed was a GPA and SAT score, WTF is wrong with you?

The statistics are the statistics. 25% of Harvard applicants with a 4.6 GPA or higher and a 1570 SAT or higher get accepted. I'm sure some of them have cracked ECs or they are hooked but there is no reason to believe they are hooked more frequently than those with lower GPA/SATs or that they have significantly better ECs than those with lower GPAs/SATs.

And it doesn't hurt that naviance is more than 1 year's worth of info, more datapoints just makes it more valid.

Not PP. But perhaps she has access to TJ’s Scoir data? I personally believe that a student in the top 5% of TJ has a good chance of getting into HYPSM.

“A” student possibly getting in is completely different from all kids with a 4.6 or higher gpa + 1570 have a 25% chance of admission based on stats only. Poster said it was from Naviance. This statement is false.

Let's be clear, with <4% acceptance rates everyone is locked out of top schools. It's a lottery even with a "perfect" profile. I say this as a MIT alum
