I don’t agree at all. Maybe if you’re knee deep in Boston, but everywhere else would know much more of Emory. It’s really only in the minds of DCUM that these niche lacs are uber prestigious.
Irrespective of perception, Williams ranks well when viewed objectively. This site, for example, placed it a rarefied 8th nationally when considered among colleges and universities together:

More students choose Emory according to parchment honesty its a wash on prestige although the avg genz would prefer Emory for obvious reasons (Atlanta).
Emory booster seems to think its location is going to be a tie breaker. College kids don’t think Atlanta is that big of a selling point when deciding which school to attend.

Maybe if you are in Atlanta but not in the rest of the world. Emory doesn't have more recognition than the top SLACs. Neither group has much recognition with the general public. That is fine and to be expected since since school knowledge for the vast majority of the public comes from watching sports. Both Emory and Williams are great schools; this thread is one of the most inane threads that I have read in a long time.
Internationally, only universities are well known. It’s insane to think any SLAC is known in the “rest of the world”. Not saying Emory is well known either, but you aren’t helping the discussion.
