I would be worried if I were on the waitlist this year. Last year there were a bunch of extra seats from feeders that didn’t fill so overall there were enough seats for the feeder kids. That’s not the case this year. Last year DCB only had 36. This year it’s 58. All feeders have more applications.


+ DCI has 25 kids from Mundo only on their waitlist.

I think the current 5th grade class is very big on the Hill; perhaps elsewhere in the city too? We had the worst WL numbers for everything in that grade, including daycare & sports teams/dance classes filling more quickly.


Yeah we have always heard the current 5th grade is huge and we have often had very bad luck because of it. The grades that follow do not seem as big.

Setting aside the weirdness of picking 1st grade (not a traditional entry year), take a look at the trend lines and the historical WL offers and try again. What you posted tells you nothing. For example, TR 4th has numbers dropping like a lead balloon. Based on prior years' WL offers they are unlikely to be able to even fill the grade.

FWIW,
Of this list, only Inspired has a solid middle school.
Two Rivers, Haynes, Creative, Cap City have weak MS.
Lee, SSMA, Breakthrough, Bridges have no MS.

Are there any in-demand charter elementaries left that don't have a MS or MS/HS feeder? I think that really hurts the Montessoris. They have Truth but it's not a legal feeder, and the HS isn't strong yet.


Also, Montessori is for ECE and not upper ES, MS or HS. At some point even the crunchiest parents realize that kids need to learn something and not just feel good about their creativity.
