I don't think people will pronounce any of those spellings the way you want out the gate. It's like Anna vs Ana. You would only know the person is an ON-na if you hear them correct you or say their own name.

That being said I don't think it's a big deal. Kids these days are more conscientious of using preferred names/pronunciations.

Hana is hon-nah (like ON)
Hannah is han-nah (rhymes with banana)

Never heard any sounding like hawn-ah (like YAWN).

Never met a bad Hannah. But like with all things, it can get a little precious when parents are looking for unconventional spelling.

Choose your name. And spell it properly. It's a burden for the kid when parents get creative.

Hanna / Hana = Pronounced Haw-na

I think you’ll be fine, OP.

No Hawna. Never heard that. That doesn't even make sense it's more like Hon-na.

You’re not very bright. What PP wrote is literally how Hanna or Hana is pronounced. Have you never heard those names pronounced?

47 years on this earth and have never heard Hawna.

Hanna would be just like Hannah (banana)
Hana would be Ha-na.

I’m from NY and I say the aw in yawn almost like I say the o in coffee, like a stereotypical NYer would say it. Cawfee. Yawn. Hawna. Is that what you’re going for? Or is it more of an AH sound like ON?

Do you also say banawna? Hawna banawna? That's definitely not typical.

It's too over played. I wouldn't use it.

It's always going to rhyme with banana, sorry OP. It's also not a great name either way.

No, nobody I know pronounces names like that. Hannah/Hanna are pronounced the same, rhyme with banana. There is no W so why is there a silent one?

Hana I would pronounced I said Hon-na. Again no silent W. On and awn are not pronounced the same at all.

Those two words are pronounced the same in many (most?) regions in the US.

+2

Going to see my Hana (friend) today. I think it’s a great name (better than Hannah) and pretty rare but easy to say/spell

“Hannah Hannah bo-banna" is a rhyming phrase from the 1964 song "The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis, which uses a formula to create rhymes for any name. The rhyme scheme is: "Hannah, Hannah, bo-banna Banana-fana fo-fanna Fee-fi-mo-manna Hannah!".

In the US people will say Hannah like Hannah Banana.

Use a spelling of Hawna.

That’s a good point. I assume OP is going for Hah-na like how you say ON. I would pronounce Hah-na and Haw-na the same way. That may be the source of some of the problems.
