Also Iranian American. Born here but have a lot of family there that we have not heard from since this stupidity began. I get it. I just think that the people who know me here forget that I’m Iranian and don’t understand how worried we are. I cry by myself all the time and try to avoid the news. Even if they’ve met my family during visits they don’t make the connection. Most Americans are so distracted from the realities of war that they just don’t understand the nightmare that it is. All politicians should be forced to serve in the armed forces.

Maybe they are MAGA and don't want to talk about it?

I think it is thoughtless of them.

People are desensitized by recent wars, genocides, natural disasters and school shootings. Most don't even want to see other people protest about this. It annoys them.

If y'all aren't close, why does it matter since your immediate family is all here so probably the thought didn't cross their mind.

Honestly, yes. I also have an Iranian family. I'm not going to reach out to all 50 of them and ask if everyone they know over there is OK. I assume I'll here if someone is not. I don't expect people to reach out to me every time there is some kind of problem in the USA.

This is a bizarre take. If major US cities were being bombed by two major powers, I’d certainly expect relatives to check in.

Not too sensitive but don’t look for reasons to be mad at relatives. Life is too short. But next conversation with them, let them know you’re worried
