Do you either of you come from a wealthy family and thus have a financial trampoline? Having financial support or knowing you are getting a chunk of change at some point certainly makes things easier!
Thankfully my wife has a very stable job and is a high earner. I work a few nights a week to keep my license and for extra cash (IRA, vacations) and so I can have a life outside of my kids.
My wife comes from nothing (single mom with lots of kids) but worked her ass off to get where she’s at. I came from an upper middle class family. My parents did help me through college and I am very thankful for that and know that’s a huge privilege. We do not get any financial help from family but my MIL helps us often (she lives in our guest house). So another privilege.
We would not have this many kids if we couldn’t afford them. I am an only child and my wife is one of 7. We met in the middle with four kids.
