I gave my now husband a deadline to propose by but looking back, it was a mistake to marry a man who didn't want to propose on the same timeline.

I am really paying for it now and wish I had more patience back then to find the right person for me.

Why didn't she propose if marriage is what she wanted?

There is no such thing as a "normal length of time." And having artificial constructs like that leads to disappointment, as apparently your daughter discovered.

Maybe she'll grow up before her next relationship?

Most relationships I know had an ultimatum to get them married actually. Guys would never propose without it. Mine did and going on 22 years.

Nobody needs to put a ring on the other but if both want to, they can ring shop together and buy their own or each other's rings.
