If the dog was all over the house, the pet sitter was all over the house. They used a plug that was convenient.
After 2 weeks, the OP should change or wash the sheets anyway. And board the dog.
The dog was apparently happy and well cared for. The house was occupied rather than vacant. Nothing was broken or stolen. I think most of us would call that a win. I hope by now the OP has given the charger back.
