Well. The state could get rid of the silly Easter Monday requirement. We also have the transition day, which I actually like, but I think it should count as a day. And we don’t need full days after every quarter for grading. Those could be half days. Most of my kids’ teachers are done before that day and just have the day off. We could also have plans for virtual in the event of a very extended closure like the one we had. Lots of ways to solve this.

Can’t do it this year. People have mad plans.

It isn’t like anyone will send their kids to school on June 25. Except those who seem to think schools are child care.

Kids should be in camps then, where they will learn more anyway.

Staff is going to expect to be paid if they have to work until June 25.

Don’t even think of goi g there with “well they got paid for the snowcrete days.”

Juneteenth is going to have to be a paid holiday.

This is gonna be expensive.

No because now they are using their make up days and extending the year, so they could reapply for a waiver.

They're not though. There are still two makeup days they could use.

I don't think they could do Easter Monday, unless the state changes the requirement.

The transition day doesn't count because it's not for everyone. They should go back to the old system of having an optional transition 1/2 day the week before for new students - extend it to ES as well. (Previously it was for secondary students only.)

They could say it’s open to everyone but designed for certain kids.

I think it would need to be a required day for it to count. They petitioned the state to count it previously and were turned down.

This isn't true. I don't know when they started but in the years my kids have been in MCPS the many religious holidays have been days off but called something else like teacher development.

They should start a week earlier if they want to incorporate all the religious holidays. We need at least 4 snow days built in.
