It seems like a very expensive proposition, at least in the first year or two. No disrespect but it sounds like it’s going to be a huge misallocation of resources at first primarily to benefit a small group of non-sporty kids from Carson who didn’t think they’d fit in at Westfield or South Lakes. Hearing next to nothing about kids from Centreville, Chantilly or Oakton opting in - and it’s understandable why few from Centreville would opt in when the odds of their being in the final boundaries are so small.
I don’t understand why they aren’t taking more time and then opening this as the community school people really wanted.

Yes. Teacher from South Lakes sent an email this morning that they've accepted a position at Skyview.
Lovely of FCPS to create a dynamic where teachers jump to avoid getting pushed. It won't just be at South Lakes.
The teacher in question was very much looking forward to opportunities the new school presented.
Personally know 4 teachers who have accepted positions in two very different subjects. 1 is a handful of years from retirement, 1 is about 10 years away (and has been at their current school their entire career), and the other two are in their first 5 years of teaching.
All 4 have voiced they applied mainly because Skyview is closer to their homes.
What subjects?
Not going to dox them, but will say 2 are core and the other 2 are elective.
No problem. I only asked because I also applied for a teaching position. I was told that we would hear back either way and I haven't heard anything yet.
Everyone I know who interviewed for a position was called this week with the outcome. Maybe try reaching out Monday if you don't hear by COB today?
Were they only contacted if they were offered a position?
A faculty member at my school was contacted yesterday and told they did not get the position he applied for.

This is the biggest reason teachers are going to move. (1) location and then (2) to get away from crappy department chairs or admin

That's an interesting assumption.
Teachers are smart enough to figure out which schools will lose kids and then look to avoid involuntary de-staffing.
