My late father’s hobby was off roading so he had Broncos in the 1970s. I’m hunting down the model and color he had. Unfortunately it’s one of the most desirable combinations

According to OP, he's still 49. That's not too old to have a Corvette. I think it's a good age to have this type of vehicle. Better in the husband's late 40's and early 50's than in his mid 20's, when he would be racing around town doing wheel spins and running the risks of having an accident.

An SUV, even a Porsche, is not a sports car.

It is a little midlife crisis, but better a car than some of the other things men do at this age. I would just ignore it and not say anything.

I am not a fan of it, but I also think that if he has always dreamed of one and can afford it, go for it. Who cares what others think? Is there a way for him to buy a used one? My dad had dreamed of owning a 911 for years. Finally bought one (used from a Porsche dealer...very low miles) loved it for about 3 years and then traded it in and got a brand new Lexus that he drove for many years. He got to enjoy the car he had always wanted and was able to trade it in for a brand new car. I hope that it works out for your husband!

OP, yes midlife issue but put in perspective. He wants something new and flashy. Better a bright shiny hunk of fiberglass with a seat for you than a young flashy blond.
