From our feeder, Chicago always accepts 1 (standout) kid in EA and defers the rest. Its usually a large pool as the EA defer kids convert to ED2 if they aren't accepted ED.

My 4.0 uw 1550 public school DC denied by all T20s. Enrolled at UMD.

My 1540 kid was denied by Stanford and got into Michigan (engineering.)

She declared the score "good enough" in part bc the average score for her MCPS high school is around a 950 or so -- but more to the point, she felt that her transcript did enough to demonstrate her preparation and ability to do the work, esp in math.

It's a data point. I'm pretty sure it does little on its own, might serve to confirm or call into question other aspects of the application, might serve as a differentiator where applications are otherwise similar, but only at the margins, really.

Reminds me of an interview I heard a few years back during Covid when everyone was test optional. It was a T10 AO saying that generally speaking, they could almost always predict a kid's test scores by looking at the rest of their application.

Like, the kid winning music competitions and robotics medals and debate trophies? They had a good sense of what that student could do without looking a test score.

My 1580 one and done kid, high gpa, leadership, good ( not stellar ecs, got rejected by upenn, uva, and accepted to T30 school...unhooked, business major

I personally know a kid rejected by EA Chicago and in H now.

GPA is the most important. My child has 1580 as well and Deferred at Brown, USC, UMich. You need very high GPA + this SAT score

Actually 3260 out of 2.13 million scored 1580 or higher. It’s just that they all have parents on DCUM.
