If it’s going to be fully mid day then not having prelims Friday and finals Saturday is really weird. I’m trying to be polite.

I’m hoping a decision is made right after 4pm when all the required day of training and in-service stuff is over.

The logistics of getting all the swimmers there with such short notice during a weekday really sucks. Yes people can car pool. But it’s really hard to pull off!

Come on coaches - make a decision and get the information out! What additional information are you going to get at this point that’s going to impact your decision? You need parents to work the meet and if we have to miss a day at work, we really need to know before the day ends and we leave work.

Because we don't have the rec centers reserved for enough time on Sat to hold a meet before 6 pm

"All Fairfax County public schools and facilities will be closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 2"

What does the above have anything to do with the rec centers' ability to normally operate, especially when coaches are telling us that there are no buses anyway to use.

Thanks for the share/context.

And I guess all districts need to be consistent? Liberty districts is at WL (APS), so they’d likely have more flexibility in pool use.

It eliminates all circle seeding.

You only circle seed in the last three heats of an event per USA Swimming rules.

I don’t see how you could get it all in before 6 pm on Saturday. They probably don’t even have the space reserved until after noon.

I honestly don't know the answer to that question.

They could just move prelims to the day on Friday and finals to the day on Saturday. Eliminates all the night stuff which is the concern.

But if FCPS cancels activities, then it does not matter.

The rec centers are being used for other things Saturday morning. They’re booked.

They want everything done by 6pm.

But why? It can’t be done by 6 pm on Friday then 6 pm on Saturday?

I think it has to do with transportation. They don’t want students driving at that time.

How would they be done by 6 pm on Saturday? Friday would be doable because the have the rec centers for the entire day.
