Also, as of Monday afternoon models are feeling out a possible ~10 inches of snow for Saturday and Sunday.
Buy winter jackets. You can probably get them at a thrift shop for $10-20.
Have you been to a thrift store recently? Anything warm enough for 9 deg will either be UN-gently used or $40. Influencers have ruined them for low income people.
Not true. I’m a thrifter. My kid has 2 winter coats from the thrift store. One is a snowboarding jacket ( can’t remember brand) and one is a Tommy Hilfiger. Both were less than $20. I’ve seen NF jackets in the mid $20s but with a 20% coupon the price comes back down.

Really hoping those forecasts are wrong. It looks like Snowmageddon/Blizzard of 96 level stuff.

Meteorologists were warning that uncovered skin could develop frostbite in as little as 5-10 minutes. MCPS opened on time. Things have changed in the last 12 years, but I’d still be surprised if we had a delay due to these temps with no precipitation.
It turns out you can wear jackets, hats, and gloves and still be outside in 0F temperatures. How do you think kids in Minnesota survive?
To be fair some people around here aren’t used to those kind of temperatures or may not have appropriate clothing.
You don't need fancy clothing. Basic winter jacket, hat (or jacket hood), gloves (or jacket pockets). Sweatshirt. Maybe a long sleeve shirt under that. You'll be fine waiting for the bus or walking to school. Those are all things people should be expected to have in this climate.
Some people just don't like to be cold. And yes, you're likely to feel cold even wearing that. But if you look at what kids are wearing at the bus stop or while walking to school on a less cold day, it is pretty clear they're able to handle being cold for a little while.

Anonymous wrote:I'm terrible. I don't wear a jacket at all in this weather because I'm literally only outside from the walk from my car into work. I can deal with 60 seconds of cold
