I sincerely need someone who lets their kids do this come on here and start arguing with us and explain it. I don't get it.

How do you know it's DCUM crowd kids doing it?

To be blunt, it's rich white kids. I've seen them up close milling around the Cherrydale area a bunch of times. The shopping plaza that has the Arrowine store. And the ebikes are not cheap. I've been told by parents who recognize kids it's a lot of Hamm kids. An active bunch over on the school forums, to say the least.

I live near Hamm. This, 100%.

I will try to be sufficiently vague but in the 8th grade at DHMS everything stems from a deeply troubled child whose parent is an e-biker who does not wear a helmet nor make their younger child wear one when they drive them to elementary school. There’s a lot more going on in that family but there’s not much anyone can do about it.

Ha I just happened to be watching real housewives of Beverly Hills and Rachel Zoe mentioned her son being in an e-bike accident.

I googled it. 14. Lacerated kidney.

Great plan parents!

It is getting insane— pouring rain tonight almost hit one flying around corner - no helmet no lights on almost dark out. He did not stop at stop sign! Someone is going to die if they do not learn the road rules and basics!

This is just beyond comprehension to me. Do people not remember being young teens? I mean WTF. Don't parents of 13-year-old boys ASSUME they are being reckless?

I don't know really get my knickers in a twist about that much but seeing these kids act like maniacs on their e-bikes makes me furiously angry. Some poor person is going to kill one of them and it won't be her fault at all but she'll live with it for the rest of her life.

This is my worry. I have a 16 year old driver. He’s cautious but he’s 16. You put him on the road with a 12 year old on a dirt bike and it’s going to be my kid’s fault if the dirt bike zooms in front of him.

I'm in South Arlington and have noticed the same (both white and non-white kids) on electric bikes and scooters, very erratic. They come bombing down the massive hill on Walter Reed and are so unsafe around Four mile run. I drive home in the late afternoon when the sun is directly in everyone's eyes and I am so worried there will be an accident.

You are buys if you think it’s good parents. Did you get your kid one, they pop wheelies and go 40 mph down Harrison and Langston. They aren’t in bike lanes, they don’t obey stop signs or lights. I’ve had them cut me off many times. Williamsburg has banned them, but some bad parents who lives across the street from the school let the kids park them then they walk to school. They are basically motorcycles and are being driving by 12, 13 and 14 year olds who have no idea what the are doing. A kid is going to get killed. Luckily, the batteries done work in cold weather so we should eh seeing a lot fewer of them.

Omg. These are the same parents who will have drunk driving teens in a few years. Very big issue in that area.

I've seen them doing wheelie's on major roads, blowing through stop signs, and menacing cars. These kids are so young.

Same thing in my west coast city. White rich kids who attend private schools. My DD is in 5th grade and has recognized her classmates and 6th and 7th graders popping wheelies in a major intersection with 2-3 lanes of traffic in 5 directions. These kids are idiots who don’t have the brainpower to navigate a skateboard down a sidewalk yet their parents are giving them what are essentially motorcycles and saying see you at 6 pm.

And the kids are wearing full-face-coverage helmets so it’s not like the parents are deluding themselves that these are normal bikes!

The full head helmets also gets me. Hey dumb parents- if you need to buy that to accompany an e-bike for a 14 year old maybe it’s not a good idea??

where?

still waiting on this....

Obviously its not in the DMV. It would be all over the news.

It’s the same type of loser parent who have sons who repeatedly drive drunk and its widely known and they’d have to be in an actual coma not to realize what is happening in the car they provide to the kid.

It’s inexplicable. These people should be shunned.

These kids going 35 mph through red lights at crosswalks are going to kill a pedestrian —THE KID will also have to live with it along with his dumb @ss parents that essentially bought him a motorcycle disguised as a bicycle at 12-14.

Sadly, this is a reality. DD is a big issue in that Williamsburg area.

Yes I have one at Yorktown. They are not the ones riding these things. They have cars. Also, freshman parents are throwing parties and supplying alcohol. Some parents want their kids to be the cool ones.

It's kids who are not old enough to have drivers' licenses.

When my kid was at Hamm I caught him on the back of an e-scooter flying down Wilson blvd with no helmet….he met my eyes and nearly sh@t his pants. He was on lockdown for a bit. He outgrew that stuff—but those are the high risk-taking years for boys. I certainly wouldn’t have him a match (an e-bike) to the gasoline.

Parents need common sense. They need to PARENT.

Yes- kids will do stupid sh@t—-but you don’t supply the stuff to them.
