Agree. I have three adult kids. The oldest is 31 and is married; middle kid is 28 and engaged to be married this summer; youngest is 25 and in a serious relationship. What I hope for each one is to find their own happiness in love, friendships, and work that they find meaningful. That might come with kids or not; if it does, I’m sure DH and I would enjoy being grandparents, but if not, there’s a lot more to life.

Maybe in the last generation, society/family expectations were to marry and have kids....definitely not anymore.
Kids are a lot, don't have them unless YOU really want them.

Yes. Our kids are late twenties and not yet married but they are starting to tell us about divorces among their set, guys whose weddings they went to. One friend of theirs is already divorced with a child.

Just stop. OP didn't say anything about controlling other people's reproductive systems. And I doubt at OP age that adopting is really an option, wtf. It is perfectly fine to be sad. This is a normal part of life and how we are evolutionarily designed.

That sucks but silver lining is that your kids would've more resources and time to care for you in your elderly years. Adult kids with spouses and children are usually no good in parent's time of need.

Yes we just had the world’s most boring sleepy Christmas dinner with our two unmarried daughters in their late twenties. Just the four of USA Ho Hum. I thought by now there would be spouses and children and games and fun. Nope. Every year it feels sadder.

I feel last sad now.

A good friend of mine has ten grandchildren and I definitely envy her as we have none. Their lives aren’t centered around their grandchildren which I think is healthy.
