Historically, true

Anonymous wrote:Tufts is a very good school that fills an important niche for kids who aren't quite Ivy level but still want the benefits of a non-SLAC private. It is great that there are schools like this out there. People often tend to hate on them but it is unwarranted.
If money is an issue and they don't give you aid, it is a hard sell compared to a good public. But there are benefits to a private that are valuable if you can afford it. And as a result, it tends to draw a wealthier crowd.
Tufts tends to have good outcomes. Kids there have a bit of a chip on their shoulder because many came up just short of Ivies. Proximity to Boston is great - I would much rather go to Tufts than BU or Northeastern.

Agree. Weird campus, weird name, weird mascot, weird colors, weird that it’s a university in the NESCAC, weird that it has a law school that’s not a law school. Overall it’s kind of…weird.

All the schools that reject DCUM's perfect darlings are overrated.

"On U.S. News rankings for instance, Tufts is #36, supposedly on par with UIUC. But for an “elite” school with a \~ 10% acceptance rate, shouldn’t it be higher? I like Tufts but I’m trying to decide if it’s the right fit for me. I plan on majoring in mechanical engineering and have a high SAT score and GPA, well within range for even T5 schools. Although Tufts seems good, it’s not ranked very high in comparison to other schools within reach. I suppose the prestige aspect also comes into play since I’m a naive little high schooler and want to fuel my ego by getting into a highly ranked school.
I don’t mean to bash Tufts at all in this post, I really do like it; it seems like it should rank way higher, and I’m curious if this ranking is due to a flawed ranking method or simply just how it is? "
