I sent about 30 cards. I've already received about 10.

I think not being on social media is key. I love getting cards and do send cards as well. It's great to see the families of my high school and college friends. I love writing quick notes to my mom's friends (my mom died several years ago) just to keep that connection. It's an annual time I think about all these people who have played a role in my life. It's grounding and a nice way to end the year.

Having said all of that, mine probably won't be in the mail until the weekend. It's usually around 80 cards. I've received 15 so far.

Usually when I get them these days I throw them straight into the fireplace without opening them. They’re just holiday “we’re great!” brags, no one who sends me one has seen me in over a decade. I don’t feel the need to keep in touch on that basis alone.

I’ve so far only seen one this year, it was from a professional real estate firm. Toss.

My goal is to eventually just get off everyone else’s list.

I do open them, but I do so over the trash, and in they go immediately.

NP. With people like PP in mind, I've tried to cull the list of people I send cards to.
Similarly, when I get a card in the mail, I call or text the sender to express how much I appreciate them thinking of me. I don't care if there's a photo or not, or if there is a handwritten or not.

You should have no problem with that, given your stinky attitude!

Plenty of people not on SM.

+1 Don't need to give my data to Big Tech just to say hello once a year to people I remember fondly and might see once every 10-20 years.

Last year I was in an accident right before Christmas and never opened my cards. I did it last week with DH, and it was so fun to do and be relaxed. Probably got 50 last year.

I have 40 new cards, two woodland at night designs. I have 4 from last year I use for tips.

Haven't sent any yet. Got 2 so far and looks like 3 in the mail. Most are from DH former research assistants or grad school friends who stay in touch.

I'm super behind this year but intend to send them and have for decades.

I usually send 75ish and get probably 45?

Thanks for letting us know that on a social website.

I open them over the recycle bin, and in they go after a brief glance.

This my first year not sending them (kids ate 17 and 14) other than the year my mom died. When I sent them we did 75. So far this year we have 2 physical cards and one digital. I don’t mind receiving them and I do open them but I don’t read long letters. A few sentences is fine. I think I am done sending though. Too much work and no one else in my household cares. Most people we are close to can see pictures of us on Facebook. I text photos to my dad and aunt who are not.

I mailed 60 yesterday. Have received 8 so far, seems lower than normal but we shall see. I suppose that we will really cut back on mailing when our youngest graduates high school in 2027.
