I think it's only if the days are for the same issue. For example, if you miss five days for the flu, are back for two weeks, and then miss two days for a stomach virus, I don’t think you have to file for STD. I could be wrong, though.

I “look healthy” but am going through fertility treatments. It’s my worst nightmare and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Unfortunately I have to miss school at the drop of a hat for appointments all the time. It’s miserable. It’s harder for me to be out than to be at school but I don’t have a choice. I hope you never find yourself in a position where you are frequently missing work. No one ever opts to regularly skip work just for the fun of it.

The ONLY way to approach this is to ask the principal if it would be possible to get a consistent sub, but even that is unlikely to happen given the shortage.

My good friend is a high school teacher. She was diagnosed with cancer two months ago and the prognosis isn't good. But she looks healthy. She has been missing a lot of school for medical appointments related to her cancer.
