No early action option. 14% admit rate for a super expensive school without even the ability to see a classroom or dining hall. No campus. Nursing school is uptown or in Brooklyn. Tisch is the only reason to consider NYU. My child is majoring in Business and it just doesn’t make financial sense to apply ED with a 92k price tag as a donut hole family.
SUNY flagships are great for 37k a year out of state.
You are paying for the name. At 92k a year, there are other options that you can apply EA and hope for merit aid.

The "tour" was such a joke! No one told the tour guides that the library (the one building on the tour) was closed for some reason, and they didn't have any back-up building for us to peek inside. Show us the gym, at least! Yet, the admission made a big stink about dispensing and collecting name tag stickers before and after the tour. Why the strict security for an exclusively outdoor tour? I grew up in NYC (went to Stuy). We interacted with fewer NYU students than, say, shopping at GU/Uniqlo.

We wondered about this, too.

We thought possibly there is a safety concern related to some kids from prominent international families?

Still remember my DS asking if he could check out the rec center. The response? “Probably not”

Not that I really care about them

NYC is about to turn into a violent sh!t hole war-zone under Mamdani. It is the last place I would send my child to study.

Rightists have told me that NYC and SF are circling the drain about 6 or 7 times during my life but it hasn’t happened yet.

Perhaps, there is another concealed motivation here.

Sf has been a failed city for years. It's over.

We are from different parts of NY. I am from CNY and don’t know anyone who even applied there back in the 90s. Living in NYC and those schools were thought of as way too expensive and not affordable.

My daughter and niece are there at Tisch. It’s a safe area with no problems. They both love NYC.

It’s the opposite of southern schools with football and sororities and terrible fashion sense. It’s nice to have such diverse decisions to choose from.

I went to NYU on scholarship many years ago. My professors were excellent and NYC is a special place. However, it took me a long time to find my people, and I was often lonely. I probably would have been happier at a more traditional campus. Also, my classmates paying full tuition seemed to universally regret it. It didn't feel like a rich kid school to me. Just one that lots of kids took on way too much debt to attend.

I tried to get my kids interested, but they just don't like the big city, maybe because they are use to DC's small city feel and the simple Metro system. Both chose more verdant college campuses in less urban areas for college.
