Pentagon admits Kabul drone strike that killed 10 civilians, including up to 7 children, was a 'tragic mistake'
US officials have apologised for killing innocent civilians in a drone strike near Kabul airport on 29 August, admitting they had mistakenly thought they were targeting a facilitator for ISIS-K.

Excerpts.....
"Gen Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters two days after the attack that it appeared to have been a "righteous" strike and that at least one of the people killed was a "facilitator" for ISIS-K - the Islamic State group's Afghanistan affiliate."
"Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said: "We now know that there was no connection between Mr Ahmadi and ISIS-Khorasan, that his activities on that day were completely harmless and not at all related to the imminent threat we believed we faced."
"We apologise, and we will endeavour to learn from this horrible mistake."
"US President Joe Biden had touted the strike as a success and as proof that the US could carry out "over the horizon" strikes from outside Afghanistan."

You cannot be this freaking stupid. An accident is different from murder, which is what Hegsbreath committed. I wonder if he was sober when he gave that order. At his arraignment, he should plead not guilty by reason of intoxication.
Being drunk is not a valid defense l.
You’re not the brightest bulb, are ya?

Laws haven't changed. What Hegseth ordered is a war crime. He belongs in The Hague. And everyone that followed that very illegal order has to go on trial. Murdering shipwreck survivors has never been standard operating procedure - and everyone in the Navy knows that.

Hegseth authorized admiral to conduct strikes on Venezuelan vessel, White House says
Critics question legality of strikes, lawmakers to investigate
The White House said on Monday that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth authorized an admiral to conduct multiple strikes on a vessel from Venezuela allegedly carrying illegal narcotics in September.
The Washington Post had reported that a second strike was ordered to take out two survivors from the initial strike and to comply with an order by Hegseth that everyone be killed.“

Better lawyer up! The example used for an illegal order by the military in training is shooting people clinging to a boat. This admiral is f’ed.

Exactly, a mistake. As opposed to Trump and Hesgeth’s illegal murder order. Thanks for clarifying for this board.

Those people on the boat were given no trial, no due process, no way to prove they werent smuggling drugs based on the accusation by the Defense department, and even if which would not entail a death sentence in a court of a law.
I used to think we were the good guys.
#######
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, following the first striking of a boat in the Caribbean in September, issued a verbal directive to U.S. service members to "kill them all" with a second strike that would leave no survivors, according to a new report from the Washington Post. The secretary strongly refutes such claims.

The service members cannot avail themselves of a "just following orders" defense. They should have known this was an illegal order and they are as culpable as Hegseth and trump because Hegseth did not issue this order without trump knowledge and agreement.
Can they refuse orders from the secretary?
