Oops, forgot to add… I’m a woman. And yeah, the field dressing then processing is probably the easiest part of all of that. And I can look online how to install a pump that’s just silly.

I grew up in a place like that and am so happy that I no longer live there.

I married a lawyer. I am a lawyer. I live and work in DC Metro area. I can’t tell you how much I yearn for this… all the things you described. Sure, I like finer foods and travel—but this is the stuff that thrills me. Being a “foodie” is not a real hobby, IMO.

While I like travel, work overdid it for me. It turns out I love home and my soil right here. I love my community and I enjoy routine, frequent friendships. (Yes, friendship is more a verb and less a noun).

I’m divorced now— and I look for these characteristics and skills in a potential friend or mate. I’m not the only one who yearns for this.

And do those people of Greene County know how to take Metro, order a cocktail in a bar, drive on the Beltway, parallel park, network, or appreciate art?

Whatever is your point? It isn’t like those skills are inherently virtuous and as many people live in urban areas as they do rural ones.

Well, they are more virtuous because they enable people to survive. You may not need those skills now, but if you did need them, it would be a problem for you.
