Yeah my 4.2 kid from NoVa kid did not get in to JMU (no APs until senior year) the year the Jones Brothers played Game Day there. He is at CNU and very happy. Chose it over more prestigious schools (JMU only school he didn’t get in to). Mary Washington is another great, sometimes overlooked, VA school.

JMU is now a reach for someone with a gpa under 3.5. Great school, but, there are plenty of others and your kid will be fine and can have a good life, regardless of where they go to college.

+1 exactly right

SC and Tenn are actually quite competitive for average stats kids these days, especially for popular majors like business.

Ole Miss, Bama and Kentucky are more target/likely. Indiana is also a relatively easy admit, except for the business school.

Difficult entry for actually average kids.

Agreed:

"acceptance rate of 34%. For the Class of 2028, half of the admitted students with test scores had an SAT range of 1400–1530 or an ACT range of 32–34. "
