Please do your research on more credible sites. Anyone who makes any decisions about a SLAC and especially the atmosphere at a NESCAC school based on the comments of some of the fools on this site is guilty of gross negligence. You will get better information on CC than from the insecure people responding here. There are knowledgeable people here if you pay attbut it’s mostly static.
It seems you may be under-regarding the potential of an open forum. If, for example, you believe that, say, Middlebury has been mischaracterized by others, then your own comments on Middlebury may be welcomed by the OP for adding further perspective to the discussion.

Middlebury is a great option.
Midd is very much a prep school vibe….
No more so than most of the other schools people are pushing.

Diverse as in a lesser percentage of kids kids from prep school backgrounds, more public school kids, more kids who are interested in the amenities of an urban area, smaller percentage of athletes. Definitely more diversity of interests.
However, diversity is on a rapid decrease. Diversity at all the top universities is being replaced by wave after wave of high-scoring Asians. I blame Trump for causing this.

Np. It’s already happened. The number of Black students at elite schools has plummeted while Asian student numbers have gone way up. I have mixed feelings, can see both sides.
First part is true sometimes but false in others. Same for the second. Schools are flailing around trying to figure out what to do. A couple more years of nonsense and then things will settle down.
The bigger issue is that the grading practices in secondary schools are failing everyone so nobody knows what to do.

You should really consider Carleton. It’s an amazing place. The academics and community are top notch. It doesn’t feel like a college prep school at all.
