A PP. I agreed with some of it. MSU is the number one destination at our decent but not prestigious public.

This makes total sense to me and is not insulting.
Yeah...3.5 to 4.0 unwtd. kids go in droves. The best-qualified get really nice merit. We had a full-ride kid at our high school last year.
It kind of reminds me of how people used to talk about UMD. But now UMD is hard for MoCo people to get into so they respect it more.
We don't have a population glut of seniors in MI. So it's easier to get into our schools. So people are less freaked out about the application cycle.
I rarely hear about anyone choosing the small liberal arts colleges from here. They are a bad value financially.
