He showed up to class Tuesday and gave the statement that was posted to X by a student. He resigned Wednesday.
Class meets again this morning and he will not be there. His co-teacher Dr. Lawrence will teach the class.
My son is in the class. I only know what he tells me, which isn’t much. He’s enjoyed the course, they’ve had some awesome guests including Sam Altman, Oren Cass, Jake Sullivan. Tony Blair was supposed to guest lecture in the coming weeks; not sure if that will happen.
This is the education you get at Harvard: the former university president is trading dating advice with the ringleader of a child sex trafficker and teaching his class with ridiculous VIP "guest lecturers." What a joke. Claudine Gay may have been a deeply underwhelming intellectual and plaigirist but Summers is a hundred thousand times worse.
Agree with you about the VIP guest lecturers. If not cohesively integrated into the course design, what is the point? Other than superficial gloss and Summers himself not having to teach many classes.
It’s a class on Globalization and my son has really enjoyed it. Great debates, broad ideas on policy and procedure from those who have/had great influence. It’s fun to hear them debate and admit they’ve been wrong. Also when their view differed from their boss (aka the president).
Not glossing over anything having to do with Summers but the course itself has been worthwhile.
Its a pity that our best minds are taught by people like Summers. Maybe you think your kid is being molded by some great minds but Altman and Summers are two people I deeply despise.

Lawrence Summers to Stop Teaching at Harvard While It Investigates His Epstein Ties
The former Harvard president had previously stepped down from other positions following revelations about his longtime connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
Good.
yes good. But pleae do not forget he showed up this week to teach the class and subjected his students to some self serving "i am sorry" drivel. See the ridiculpous video. These are young college students. Not much older than the victims. Just complete insane arrogance and an embarasment to Harvard it even got this far.
Harvard really really has jumped the shark ....
Donald Trump is on video bragging about grabbing women's pu**ies yet he's still allowed near women, and 74 million Americans voted for him...so why the double standard?
