Millions of entitled NYC liberals with YouTube University law degrees that turn even the simplest interaction into a Supreme Court case?

He can reduce headcount just by being himself at work every day and not prioritizing recruiting.

And why do you think recruitment is down?? Because they don't like this mayor or that mayor? Really? You don't get it, do you? Everyone wants the same thing... good pay, benefits and quality of life. Working class priorities. The things Mamdani is fighting for. Those of you who are trying to say cops hate Mamdani are very wrong, and clearly part of the trolling and fear mongering against him. And yet, he still won.

Welcome to San Francisco circa 2021. Chess Boudin ring a bell?

Mamdani did an apology tour, but does any reasonable person believe his true feelings have suddenly changed?

There are almost 34,000 NYPD officers in NYC. That’s almost 10,000 more than all of the law enforcement officers in Virginia. Ask yourself, if your boss said that about you, would you look for another job?

Recruiting by the NYPD is up so far in 2025, but it’s just keeping up with retirements. At 34,000 officers the NYPD is still understaffed by 5,000 officers. If a Mamdani Administration accelerates retirements and resignations, while depressing the recruiting rate, public safety will suffer and crime in NYC will rise rapidly.

What do you think NYC will look like at the end of 2026?

Look, you're obviously a troll who likes to start threads with some long tirade against Mamdani- misleading or outdated facts- and then some doomsday projection about NYC. You've been doing it since the troll pay cycle started months ago. I appreciate you're burning from seeing a Muslim man in office, but it's time to move on.

You conveniently cite right want MAGA crap. I’m sure there are cops who don’t like Mamdani. But there are a lot of cops who do like him. These are working class people, most of whom can’t live even close to the precincts they work from bc of COL. There was a time that cops and fireman had some options to live local. But most of those apartments have long ago been converted to luxury housing. Look up the history of Stuytown in NYC.

"Trump won so I am quitting my job and moving to Canada"

Ok thank you! Overblown hysteria. NYPD hiring/firings/resignations depands on sipply demand based on wages and the demographics of the workforce.

So this. How many people do you know who actually moved? Rosie O’Donnell. The end.

ICE is recruiting from police departments big and small across the country, not just NYPD.

+1 and even if they weren't actively recruiting, all police officers all know that ICE is an employment option.

Remember when NYPD cops turned their backs on progresive Mayor De Blasio?

i expect the same thing will happen with the new mayor.

I have little qualms of training with Israeli police force, which differs from IDF. If the NYPD need militarized training, they can get it from our military.

Think about an active shooter. The currently agreed upon and recommended law enforcement response is to immediately and aggressively hunt and neutralize the threat. Where do you think they learned this technique? They are textbook military Close Quarters Battle(CQB) tactics. They quickly form an entry team, systematically search and clear rooms while working towards the threat, bypassing the injured until the shooter is down.

Your run of the mill patrol officer isn’t “militarized.” In NYC police officers don’t even have rifles in their police cars.
