Do you think this is a fact-checked checked news service? It is a discussion board filled with mostly crazy people. The post has already been debunked by a few sane people and the ones whose kids can't get into UVA will come here to make themselves feel better and have a story to tell when their kid attends some lesser school. It's all good.
Here is the WaPo article:

What is there to debunk? Is the WaPo somehow “fake news,” in your twisted little MAGA mind?
UVA DID NOT SIGN THE COMPACT. IT DID NOT BOW TO ANYONE. On a separate series of investigations into accusations of discrimination - in violation of the Supreme Court 2023 Fair Students Case - the DOJ agreed to PAUSE its investigation while UVA sorted out the DEI-related problems with discrimination in hiring and in admissions. THAT IS ALL. Learn to read before posting!.

"UVA's president shall certify under penalty of perjury each quarterly report as to the report's accuracy and UVA's full compliance with all the provisions in this Agreement."
How good are UVA's lawyers? Interim president probably signed the compact because he won't be on the hook for compliance.
Who will want this job? Gonna be a mess for a while at uva.
Agreed. At this rate, they may even fall out of the Top 25. Oh, wait….
Give it a rest already. Still sour you or your kid was rejected?
+1. It’s all the Virginians who are salty that their “straight A” kid can’t just enroll.
I’m the poster who speculated that no one is going to want the UVA president job. (I’m not the ranking poster, as I could not care less about that.)
I am an alum who is upset about what’s happening at UVA, about how little character the university has shown, how willingly they’ve scrapped any commitment to diversity, how easily they’ve put themselves under the thumb of this administration. I have a senior who was going to apply to UVA but isn’t any longer; it was never at the top of their list and we’re OOS, so it’s not a big sacrifice. But as a parent and alum I have no confidence in the school right now. I truly hope things turn around.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I happen to know the UVA interim Pres and VP personally. They obviously can’t discuss the current situation but I have full faith in them, both morally and intellectually.
There is no single “VP” at UVa. There’s a Provost, a COO, and a bunch of VPs of different areas.
So this claim seems very credible.
Anonymous wrote:UVA off DC’s list. Too much turmoil and controversy.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:No DEI will eventually make UVA majority Asian female, as they tend to have the best scores, GPAs and impressive ECs. I am ok with that. Will Chad and Mackinsleigh’s parents be ok with that?
Virginia is not very Asian—something like 7%. Since 2/3 of UVA is in state, I doubt the class will be majority Asian. I guess if they admit a ton of OOS Asians…
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:UVA made FAQs. I'm chuckling reading them. https://federalinfo.virginia.edu/
Did UVA break the law? No.
Will UVA lose research grants? No.
Will there be an external monitor? No.
Does this impact free speech rights? No.
Does UVA have to pay money to the government? No.
Does this impact independence or academic freedom? No.
But also:
Can the government still bring an enforcement action against UVA alleging civil rights violations?
Updated: 10/22/2025 - 03:23 p.m.
Yes. If the United States determines that UVA is making insufficient progress toward compliance, UVA will have 15 days to address the issue. If the United States determines that UVA has not made adequate progress within that time, or if we disagree with DOJ about what the law requires and cannot resolve that disagreement, then the United States may terminate the agreement, resume the investigations that had been in abeyance, and pursue the remedies available to it.
So basically, the trump administration can still come back at any time and claim they aren't complying. Which they will do if UVA admits too many non-white people.
