Let’s see how interesting it will be when you get shut out of games against the top conferences.

If they ever are forced to join a conference it would be the ACC Which short of the Ivy Lesgue has several elite schools Duke, Stanford, Cal, UVA, Ga Tech. They are already a proud member of the ACC in every other sport. USC needs the rivalry more than ND.
The ONLY reason Stanford and Cal went to the ACC was because they weren’t invited to the B1G and not because of academics. USC is in the big leagues now, they don’t need ND. You have it backwards.

Losses hurt the resume and keep teams out of the playoffs. Strategically, it makes sense for USC to aim for a 10-2 or 11-1 regular season rather than risk dropping an extra game by playing Notre Dame.
It's terrible for fans, though.

Whoever it is, he just doesn’t get it. Notre Dame plays Navy every year because Navy want the game and Notre Dame is grateful to Navy for basically keeping the school open during WWII. And Notre Dame plays Stanford as much as it can because it helps recruiting on the West Coast and because it values Stanford academics.
….and 2 guaranteed wins most years. ND did back out of the Michigan rivalry. You know why? They lost more than they won. ND values Stanford academics. Please. If Stanford started winning consistently against them, they would be axed just like they did to Michigan. Notre Dame can’t have too many losses and still stay independent. It’s all about the $$$
What are you talking about? ND had to end standing agreements with Purdue, Michigan State, and Michigan in order to accommodate ACC scheduling. They have historically played MSU and Purdue more than Michigan, too. They said at the time that they would work to get games with these schools on future schedules once the dust settled and DID do that.
ND would make more money in the Big Ten than they do as an independent. It is not about "$$", you're just ignorant.
