Politics in schools mean there is too much focus on popular ideas in schools vs academics. Teachers have been ok, but underwhelming given the school ranks. Schools don’t seem to push for engaged teaching the way they push for agendas.

Taxes are high. Shopping on the higher end is on a lifeline, close to non existent. Dining is ok but not on the higher end and there are better mid range options 30 minutes north.

Local politics mean more dense development and more apartment buildings. Not apparently any focus on attracting businesses or wealthy families. Overall, more expensive than VA as well.

Gorgeous homes and tree lined streets. Friendly neighbors but most keep to themselves aside from passing chats on the street. Heavily white (85%+), wealthy neighbors. Very educated.

Most (maybe 75%+) of my neighbors send their kids to private school; we’re zoned for RHPS. I think this has had a bearing on friend-making, as the ES kids we’ve met attend 10+ different schools.

Appx 25% of my neighbors belong to country clubs.

Love the proximity to DC and downtown Bethesda while having the home quality, quiet, and neighborhood beauty of the area.

Biggest gripe is that we paid a lot for the house and feedback on RHPS is mixed.

If we could do it again, we would have moved into Somerset, Lafayette (DC) or the Bradley Hills neighborhoods for a better, smaller public K-5 option.
