Trump changed everything. It is no longer about politics. At all. Anyone who still supports him and makes excuses for him is simply not someone I want to spend time with. Our values, morals, and ethics are not the same. I have no respect whatsoever for anyone who still supports him. He is a racist, misogynistic pedophile. He is a cheater, abuser, and con man. If you are still in denial of this, then I don’t even know what to tell you. It is all right there in front of your eyes. You are choosing not to see it.
Listen to your daughter.
I can relate and agree 100%.
Anonymous wrote:OP, it's really strange to me how you think it's "no big deal" whom you vote for.
You seem to think of politics like spots teams - not real life, and a lot of performance.
And yes, there is some performance in politics. But the decisions made are affecting people's real lives - jobs lost, health affected, choices changed.
I think people who voted for Trump fall inso 2 camps: the unbelievably selfish/privileged, and the unintelligent/naive. I consider being unbelievably selfish to be a bad friendship quality, so no, I don't want to associate with people like that.
I have a little more understanding for the unintelligent/naive, but certainly not for anyone who thinks who you vote for is "no big deal." You really think that people's lives aren't affected by politics???

It’s not just fiscal conservatism etc. If I learn that someone voted for Trump in this last election I know that they are: OK with the Jan 6 attempt at insurrection, OK with Project 2025, OK with racism and homophobia and misogyny, OK with our president being a sexual assaulter, etc. So no, I would no longer want to be friends with you.
Yeah, you’re telling me it’s okay to cheat, lie, steal and hurt others. I’m not gonna wanna hang out with you.

I think Trump has ruined more families than anything else since the civil war. Friends and I have taken a poll and the vast majority of families with 3 or more kids has at least one sibling estranged over politics. It seems like more MAGA have pulled away, except in DH’s family his gay brother pulled away from his MAGA brother in the first term.
This is the behavior of an abuser… isolate the person from family and friends.

Bullshit. Not comparable. Trump is a new beast. Ask the millions of Republicans who reject him.
Where ARE the millions who reject him? Why aren’t they taking action and calling their representatives to oust this Ponzi scheme of a president?
