Why do people dredge up 2 year old posts to respond to out of the blue? The post started in October 2010 and was last responded to in February 2012. Before the first reply today, it was something like page 100 of the Off-Topic posts. How do you find such postings when they're buried deep in the archives?

Boy, I've been listening to Diane Rehn since the mid 1980's when her show was called "Kaleidoscope". I love her show. KoJo is OK, but I too miss Derek McGinty, especially his wit.

I like her voice; she talks exactly like my grandmother did. Now that I know their is a reason for it I like her even more.

I like everyone on NPR. Especially DR. Also Lynn Roseto Casper.

I don't like Garrison Keeler though. That show has had its day.

Her voice was grating even b/f the dysphonia became apparent.

I can't listen to Diane Rehm or Kojo Nnnnnnamdi. Both are irritating to me -- I think I have ADD and I can't wait that long for Diane to formulate a question or thought. I am a fan of Michel Martin's Tell Me More in the afternoons though.

Diane is one of the best on the air... don't listen if you don't like her voice. I have a friend with the same condition, and from that I'd suggest it's more frustrating for her than for you during the short time of her show....she's with it with every thought she wishes to speak....Diane, bless you for your drive, and for expressing much that needs to be said....love your show!!!!

I absolutely love her voice!

I enjoy the show's topics in theory and I think she's a good interviewer but I can't listen to her for more than a few minutes because the voice drives me nuts. I love it when she's not hosting and she has a sub, who does an equally good job and takes one third of the time to ask the same questions.

NPR actually fired a couple of hosts my DH loved a few years ago and the word on the street was that they were "too old" and the station wanted a fresher, younger voice or something. I remember DH being really ticked off about it.

I certainly would never advocate that they fire her, ADA or not, but it would be nice if she switched to production or print.

I started listening to her about 2 months ago. Yes, was put off by the voice ... at first. But, like trying to pull in a distant radio station (or TV) of a really well done show ... I could not-not listen.

Her voice is far less annoying to me now … though, yes ... now and then gets to some of my synapses.

I'd say she is even a better interviewer than Charlie Rose (and I've been a fan of Charlie since he began). She interrupts only to bring back on point or to dive deeper where deeper needs to be known. Her condition forces her to be precise and concise far more than interviewers who love their voices. Diane hates her voice as much as the rest of us.

And, I think, the slowness of her voice actually causes her guests to speak more slowly and precisely and allows me to absorb the interview more thoroughly. It is rhythm of the show.

Somehow, I got past the voice to the content ... and now really enjoy her show.

I've listened to her for years and am OK with her voice as it usually sounds, but this week I can't stand to listen to her. Yes, I can change the dial, but to what? I think she should stay off the air until her voice returns to what is normal for her.
