Another reason to keep phones out of classrooms.

When your kid IS in a lockdown and they text you from the closet they are scared and they love you, you will change your mind. Or maybe you are an awful parent and don't care but I do.

I was the source of info during a lockdown for my child. The school communicated nothing to the teachers or students for hours.
When your kid is scared and you can tell them it's safe, you will value that phone.

How was the mood off?

If you weren't there, why does it matter to you? DP

I was there and there was nothing different from the previous two back to school nights I’ve attended at BCC. Just a lot of parents looking lost trying to get from wing to wing.

No, its the reason to have phones.

So you can do what?

So the helicopter parents can ask to speak to the school staff and police officers trying desperately to do their job so the parents can know everything that is going on RIGHT THAT SECOND.

So sad that this situation has become so ho hum that you are heckling a worried parent.

Exactly! And when it’s your kid and they text that they’re in lockdown and scared, let me tell you, you’ll be glad the kid had a cell phone so that could communicate with you. And you can reassure them. And know what’s happening from someone there and not waiting for a parentvue message.
Signed,
Rockville HS parent

DP. No, we're not all nervous obsessives. I lived through a dozen bomb threats as a kid, and my parents didn't even know until I told them. If you have a modicum of perspective, you'll realize that being scared is insane. If you can't see that take your problems to therapy. Until then I'll heckle you all I want. You deserve it.

My kid was scared. I was able to help calm him down. Because of cell phones. If that makes me a nervous obsessive, fine. I’m not going to apologize for caring about my kid. Sorry you don’t.

THAT school! Smh

Say what you want but it happened at BCC too. And it iwll happen at least once at every other high school in MCPS. Mark my words.
