Subject: If your grandparents are dead, how often do you see your first cousins?
I grew up in my Mom's hometown so it was typical to hang out with cousins frequently and for major holidays. Of those 6 cousins, 1 has died, 3 I see not often (at least once a year) plus we text and facebook and other two, who are siblings who 2 the rest of the family has also lost touch with.
On my dad's side, we were the physically distant cousins and so might see the rest of the family once a year or so. I have 8 cousins on my dad's side. 3 have passed. (I'm 55, but each died tragically young in their teens/early 20s). 2 others I see rarely - 1 lives by my parents now (my parents moved out of my mom's hometown and closer to my father's family in the south once my siblings were out of high school/college) and my parents see them often and spend holidays with them. I only travel to see my parents once a year. The other three I almost never see. One I believe is in jail (drugs). One is just far (and talks to my dad maybe once or twice a a year), and the final one seems to be just focused on his immediate family (I am facebook friends with my cousin's wife, but we are not otherwise in touch).

Same. Most of my cousins bullied me so I can't fathom why I'd ever want to see those a-holes again. I'm still a bit angry that my mom didn't protect me and forced me to hang out with them so she could spend time with her siblings. She just simply failed to listen to me and ignored all me pleas to not hang out with them.

I have six and we all live in different states, so only when we happen to be traveling close. My mom sometimes lets me know what they are up to by keeping in touch with her sibling and my dad's.

On my mom’s side, never. She wasn’t close to her siblings.
On my Dad’s side, I text with them every so often and we follow each other on FB. We were close as kids so I try to keep the relationship up!

On my mom’s side I just saw two of them (out of four) a couple of months ago but it had been years before that. Three are on the west coast and the other is in Europe.
On my dad’s side their parents are still local (mine have passed) so I see them at Christmas, funerals and maybe one other time per year. One is here, one is in the Deep South, and one is on the west coast.

Subject: If your grandparents are dead, how often do you see your first cousins?
My mother is quite close to her sibling. We live far away, but about once a year when I visit my parents we try to bring the extended families together. Once my parents die, I doubt we will see them much at all.
On my father’s side, I don’t think I have seen my cousins since my grandfather’s funeral in 1992.

Most of my grandparents were deceased before I was born.
My mother has one sister, they are very close emotionally and we grew up geographically close. I see those cousins often.
My father has one sister, they are not close emotionally nor geographically, and I see those cousins rarely.
So I’d say my closeness or not with my cousins stems from my parents’ respective relationships with their siblings, not from my grandparents (except to the extent they influenced my parents’ relationships with their siblings, of course).

I haven't seen my cousins in years. They all moved away. I used to see them regularly growing up. Now their family grew and I'm no longer a part of it.

Depends where they live. My parents are immigrants. When my grandparents were alive I tried to visit every other year or so, and I would see cousins who lived in that country as well. Now I see US-based cousins roughly annually, but I haven't yet been able to visit my parents' home country since my last grandpaernt died pre-COVID.

I have only two first cousins. A girl 8 years younger than me and her brother who is 12 years younger.
I'm emotionally sympatico with the girl cousin. We text every once in a while. I see her in person about every four years or so. So I've seen her kids as babies, toddlers, elementary schoolers.
The boy cousin, only a few times a decade for an evening at a time. I did take my parents to his wedding two years ago. And I was the only first cousin there from both sides of his family. He was happy I came. Glad of that.

Only at large milestone events. Our fathers (siblings) were never close so it seems like reuniting is out of obligation more than desire.

My parents both came from large families and I have a lot of cousins. I see about half of them 2-3 times per year - they live relatively close by and are around the same age as me. I rarely see the others - usually at weddings and funerals only.
One set of my grandparents died before I was born. The others passed 15-20 years ago.
