Princeton is releasing early action decisions this thursday! We shall hopefully find out soon enough what Q1 grade check requests or lack of request means.

No, there is still hope. Not all kids who get a Q1 request are accepted (some deferred, some rejected too), and kids who don't get Q1 request can be accepted too. I went down a rabbit hole after my DC got a Q1 request this week.
It will be interesting if we all come back and report the decision in a few weeks.
Does your DC’s school historically send a lot of kids to Princeton?
No, which is why I have our counselor a heads up that there might be a request for Q1 grades. She let me know when the request came and I checked the report before she submitted it.
When the school historically doesn't send students to HYP in the past, but if your DC is a competitive applicant, does it help or hurt the outcome?

I doubt legacy helps much this year. Maybe if you are large donor would it help.
Legacy are typically among the highest stats kids so not sure why it wouldn’t be a normal year for them at Harvard or Princeton

There were at least 7 kids accepted to Harvard from my DC’s school (DMV) this past cycle. I don’t believe any were legacies. But one may have been a recruited athlete.
Name the school. That sounds like New England boarding not DMV. How many attend?
TJ. Last year all 7 decided to go to Harvard despite a variety of other acceptances to Yale, Princeton, Stanford mit etc. At least 2 also received likely letters from Yale and other Ivy.

If you look at the data from public schools in the dmv- Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, MoCo—numbers are very low.

Our private will get maybe 3 (non-legacy, non-athlete), then gets a fair amount if athlete Ivy admits. This is total Ivy- solely P & H. Princeton and Yale don’t seem to like our school as much. Harvard and the others we do well.
