We’re a normal family with normal kids that go to normal schools. It’s a tough market and many people are struggling to find a job. DS is an engineering major and is still looking for a position after to applying to 100+ places. Carnegie Mellon CS grads aren’t an honest reflection of the economy.

Congrats! What’s the ballpark of the TC if you don’t mind?

He makes 210K. It will probably increase once he has his TS SCI clearance.

Oh that is a bit lower than expected

Palantir pays worse than everyone else in the industry…

Not for my son.

DD’s a history major and has a job, so do all her friends. The only people struggling right now are her premed friends who didn’t make it into med school/other bio majors and cs majors.

Ugh, this is making me upset that my kid wants to major in government or history. I don't know what he's going to do coming out of college.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have a job from a top tier school.

you're really annoying to make it sound like you know everything and everyone. I have a 2025 grad from a top school and he hasn't found a job yet. There, you know one. Oh and he has several friends and classmates that also do not. There you know more. So now stop trying to make everyone believe you are all knowing.

What do you consider a top school?

my unemployed kid went to a top 25 school and was a public policy/foreign affairs major. Tons of great internships and connections. No job yet.

Good fields.

Soon accounting will be automated.

The basic, entry level stuff perhaps.

My DD and her friends all had jobs lined up at graduation from an alumni networking/ recruiting event at her state school. It was only for those students in the honors college so less competition. The alumni networking is pretty valuable. Majors: Math, Business, biology and engineering.

Came here to say this! It is not hard from a top school
The market is horrendous. The kids that already have jobs have either hustled a lot or got lucky. Saying that everyone from top schools have jobs is just not true.
