The DA folded in March of 2020 with COVID. GA started in June of 2020. ECNL girls has been around for around 15 years.

I really doubt this. It would change the mix of girls and the college commits to such an extent that it would undue everything the club has done to date. Arlington had several girls that are freshman in D1 now who have played significant time and scored already this season. No way they would have been at a GA club.

What club hasn't had several clubs go D1 whether GA or ECNL or NL? The change in mix of girls and college commits? As if recruiters wont adjust and go where the players are. You are truly delusional.

D1 - NL -- no. Di - GA sure but most -- 80% come from ECNL. Top GA girls are fine. Mid are better at ECNL. And no college coaches will not adjust in the short term.

You do realize in parts of the USA there is no GA or ECNL? And the tides are turning as far as D1 commits coming from GA. Also if you look at the US ID Camps, more and more are coming for GA.

Wait until some of the big Girls ECNL clubs flip to GA this spring. Theres already talk of 2 MLSN+ECNL switching to MLSN+GA. (Big highly ranked clubs)

We get it already. Clubs and parents are chasing the GA/MLSN badges.

Chasing a badge when your kid truly is a gifted player makes sense.

Posting that some percentage of ECNL players get recruited as D1 while wearing an ECNL hat when your kid plays on an ECNL that never makes playoffs is what everyone sees through and hates.

Its like you're screaming hey look at me im part of the club. But your kid rides pine and the top players on your team dont even pay dues. (Which you pay in full upfront)

The fact that 80% come from ECNL vs 20% from GA does not mean your DD has a 4 times better chance of being recruited! That's just not how it works although sadly a lot of parents think that's exactly what it means.

On top of that its not the regular ECNL club down the street where the D1 recruits are coming from. Its the top clubs in girls ECNL where a large majority come from.

And just to add more color to the discussion many of the currently defined D1 players played for clubs that were DA when they were participating in youth soccer. It might seem like they played on an ECNL team because that's how you know them not but this wasnt they case 5 years ago.

What should we be focused on since team success and club affiliation don’t matter? Do you really think all clubs and club coaches are viewed the same by college coaches?

Not all “D1” programs are the same either. Cleveland State and Virhinia Tech are both “D1” but different programs.

Focus on where your DD will get significant playing time on any team that will play in enough college showcases. Any ECNL or GA team will do this. It does your kid no good to be affiliated with a coach or club if they aren't seeing enough of the field. You want DD to be among the top 1/3 of whatever team she is on. These are the players who receive the most attention from the club coach, get to participate in talent IDs nominated by the club, etc. Focus on how she gets along with the coach and the rest of the team.

What if DD is top 1/3? Am I then allowed to worry about team success and club affiliation?

You should worry about her staying in the top 1/3 and staying healthy. Of course you are free to worry about wins and name of the club. But the other stuff is more important.

Well, if true the top girls team players will just leave and push weak girls off other ECNL clubs and then make a lateral move with their ECRL club to GA. Seems pretty stupid for Arlington to pick the lesser GA but whatever, it isn't like it would make GA stronger as the best kids would just still pick the best league. GA might as well just pluck one of the random ECRL programs instead

Leave and go where? FVU? [Insert maniacal laughter]. Some may be able to make VDA or Bethesda AND make the logistics of those clubs work, but not many.
not everyone can go to vda or drive to bethesda so yes… probably FVU. Which doesn’t have a horrible placement record. Lately it seems they cant keep kids after getting them exposure as they get vultured by 2 other clubs. FVU probably could use the talent.

Just saying encl badge lovers will flock to ecnl badges.

Agree with PP. Desperate trolling for their own benefit to create uncertainty and convince players to move.
