I jest, but my son was born at 9 and a half pounds and I don’t remember the length but comparable. I remember when I took him to his first checkup at the pediatrician’s office, they came in a weighed him again because he had somehow managed to gain weight!

He’s always been a head taller than kids his age. The only difference is that he was a super chubby baby/toddler and became a very lanky and skinny kid and teenager. His dad didn’t fill out until his 20’s so I imagine he will probably too.

Most boys are done growing by 15. I wouldn't say 6'2 is "super tall" though.

Slightly more than 95% of men are under 6’2”. Less than 5% of men in the US are 6’2” or over. It’s a lot taller than the average guy.

How do you know projected height?

Diet is only going to stunt growth in extreme situations, like if you’re literally starving your children. Only countries with mass famines have this issue.

Wife and I are both tall, and the charts pegged DS at 6'2" when fully grown based on that. He is about to turn 15, and has already hit his projected adult height. Oh yea, he was also always the tallest in his class, but he grew ALOT in the past 12-18 months.

Genes are weird. My best friend is 5'6" and her husband is 6'6". I am 5'3" and my husband is 6'1".

Both of our sons are 6'2". Mine may end up taller than hers as mine is mid-teens and hers is late-teens. Her son definitely has a better diet than mine.

I assume shoe size is a bigger indicator than height. If your son’s shoes are consistently large compared to his friends it seems a better chance. My 1st grader wears the same size shoe as many of his older brothers’ friends (based in bowling); I don’t necessarily think he will be super tall, I just think there are more short men in the DC area than elsewhere (I grew up on the W Coast where everyone seems taller for some reason)

My DH is 5'6" and I'm 5'8", My kids are in HS. Out older DS is 6'1" and started growing like a weed in MS during CoVID. He grew 3/4 inch in the past year.

Our younger DS didn't have a significant growth spurt until last year at 15. Doctor said that he was barely showing signs of puberty in summer 2024. He grew 3" in the past year. He was 5'9" at his checkup this summer but I feel like I'm having to look up to him in the few months since then. He's been in the low 30 percentiles for most of his life. However, doctors always said he could possibly catch up to his brother eventually. I suspect he's pretty much done growing, but what do I really know?

I always imagined my kids would be tall despite my DH's height. I know I got "tall" genes from my maternal grandmother, who was my height. She had plenty of short people in her family and my paternal side is short to average. My husband's family is mostly short to average. (When I say short I mean under 5'5" for men and women on my side and DH's side. His mom is under 5'.)
