Our son is athletic, has a good job, pretty normal looking. But he recently made a comment to us saying he has nowhere to meet women his age in person and is forced to use dating apps which I guess is normal these days? He said he's been on a few apps and basically can't get a date from them. Is this normal? He is shy and introverted which I think makes it a lot harder for guys like him.

I think he’s about 5’7 so yes a bit short. He’s about an inch taller than my husband. Why is height such a big deal on apps?
You can't be serious. Many women won't date someone shorter than 5 ft 10. He needs to meet people in person. 5 ft 7 is short.
All sensible women under 5'.7 would date guys 5'.7 and up, if they are looking for marriage. Height doesn't commit, doesn't earn, doesn't comfort, doesn't help with chores, doesn't default good sex, doesn't come debt free. It can but not necessarily. Height is only necessary if you are tall yourself.

BTDT with my cousin. The truth is he WAS getting matches but they weren't up to his smokin-hot standards. He was basically only open to dating a bombshell.
It’s usually this. Some men have very unrealistic standards.
It is the opposite. Men will generally be happy with anyone even marginally attractive and not an emotional mess.
Noticing this among younger generations.
The men want to date, but the women are all thinking they are models and nobody is tall, rich, hot enough for them.
Probably why so many young women are single now.
Unfortunately it’s true in a lot of cases. I know a few young women in their 20’s (friends of my gf) who are overweight, not pretty, and very broke who still hold out for a tall rich man. I’ve even tried to set them up with a few of my friends who are decent guys with decent jobs and they reject them upon seeing their photos (these are very normal looking guys, average heights).
So many women are delusional nowadays

Funny, my DD has the opposite experience. The men all still want to live in the hook up world and no one wants to actually date. She hates the apps for that reason.
Because she is stuck in the rut that the PP said, she thinks she must find "someone her age" and meet all the list requirements.
She must date 10-20 years older if she wants an actual marriage. Men in their 20s to 30s are still too immature these days for marriage that won't end in divorce.

He is a very good pickleball player and there are so many young women playing pickleball these days. That is how my son met them, and they played mixed doubles together. They usually go out to eat or drink after pickleball, so it does not have to be a date. Once the women found out that my son could sing and play the guitar, they all wanted to date him. The moral of the story is, in order to attract women, you must bring interesting things to the table, in addition to having $$$ and/or a good-paying job. YMMV.
