I just put that mine was “really skinny” in HS(based on pics), but I could probably make a fairly accurate guess knowing his height (especially knowing what my teen sons weighs). In fairness that might be what others are doing too.

Height genetics are funny and I find the outcomes are often unexpected. My dad is very tall - 6’4. He married my tall mom (5’9), but I ended up only 5’6 and my brother 6’2. Based on all the formulas, we “should be” much taller. I married a 5’10 guy and we should have average height kids based on our heights, but my kids are tall - I guess my parents’ genes are expressing themselves. My sons are 6’2 and 6’3, daughter is 5’9. You just never know, and parental height is oversimplification.

Your DH isn't 6' 4" He likely isn't even the 6' 3" and some change he claims he's probably just missing 6 ft so many men are delusional about their height and lie about especially to women who are under 5'6" and can't tell.


Lol, what?? Yes, he is almost 6’4. Goofy tall, is how I have always (lovingly) described him. Sons often do not reach their father’s height unless the mom is also very tall.

Of course it’s true, have you ever taken a basic biology course? Genes (including height) come from both sides. If dad is super tall but mom is average height or shorter, son is very unlikely to reach dad’s height. Very obvious.

My mom was about 5’11” My dad was 6’4”. DS’s three male cousins (my side) are between 6-6’3” a mix of slender and broad builds.

DH - 6'2", 220 now. Was about 175 in college.
DS - almost 6'3" and about 180 He's 19
DD - 5'-10. She's 16.
Mom checks in as the shortest at 5'-6"

Dad 6'0" and was probably 160 lbs as a teen.

Son (17) is 6'1" and not sure his weight but fairly lean.

Yes, height genetics are from both parents. For some reason a lot of people stupidly assume height comes from the same gender parent. Lots of short women married to tall men, height obsessed and disappointed about their 5’8 sons, lol. Ironically it’s usually the moms who are delusional about how genes work.
