I attend all these events and venues with family and friends. Men’s ability for companionship is way overvalued. If I wasn’t attracted sexually and the men didn’t expect sex (was asexual), I would have such a romantic male friend for companionship. But it seems that OPs BF wants sex from her, and that makes her cringe.
Usually women sleep with fat men for money, plain and simple.

Right? This assumption that some men have (not all) that women need them increasingly outdated. But as I said above, men have always relied on this need - especially mediocre men - so they can find a partner to make their lives easier. I think the fear of losing this control is driving some of our current politics.

I would posit that the men who 'engage' younger women (let's say a 15 year difference) are not the kind of men I would not be interested in anyway. And those younger women have their own issues. It is not uncommon though, as there are lots of men who need the validation of being with a younger woman and lots of women who need the validation of being with an older man.
