It's very uncommon for men to knowingly go after a woman who already has a man. But for some women, they just don't care it's as if the other woman doesn't exist.

Old universal truth.

Women like competing with other women.
It's why we dress up, show off on socials, fish for compliments from other women, gather in groups to chat and henpeck each other, etc.

It's why many like to try to get a man who is already taken. To one up the other woman. Of course if you get a man who is willing to cheat and leave a woman, you can never really trust him, so he immediately becomes sus after that.

It's petty yeah. That's how most people are now.

Men do it to a certain extent also, but there are often more violent phyisical punishments among men who try to poach a woman. Easy way to wind up dead in the heat of the moment. Also they have their "bro-code" thing to help. But a woman can easily manipulate a man by making his little head do the thinking.

You aren't lucky you found a partner and no one is tempting you to go corrupt. Happy ever after.

Evolution rewarded hypergamous women. While the evolutionary forces that shaped women have vanished, their effects remain. Indeed, most cultures for thousands of years have not let evolution affect women and have dictated outcomes for women.

So women want the best man because evolution made them so. It's just the way it is.

If that's it then polygamy is also justified?

A married man who cheats is not an “upgrade” to my dating pool.

Women do it because

They want what they can't have, so getting it is very satisfying

When it fails, it's not their fault, so it's safe

Many of them really don't want to be married.

My best friend separated from her ex dh for cheating. He got a divorce and asked the AP to marry him, she said no and dumped him - she was just having fun with a stupid guy.

OP, I don't agree with your premise. Many won't agree with your premise. "Partnered" though isn't married. Partnered is available if a person who is a better match comes into their life.
